It started out like any other day. I had breakfast with Tony and then hid under the bed when Donna said, "I have to give Pepper her S-H-O-T" (What do these humans think? We can't spell??!!) Peeping out from under the bed, I was thinking, "When is she ever going to leave for school? I have to go to the litter box BAD!!" Finally after Donna left and I performed my ablutions, I was at ease, knowing that I had escaped the dreaded S-H-O-T once again! (I am diabetic, as you know)
Meanwhile, Eddie was preparing for his morning shower. He is a tall guy, 6' 6" at least. The bathroom in our 100-year-old house, added on in the 30's, did not have such a giant in mind, the door only being 6 ft. He went bebopping to the bathroom and didn't duck enough; therefore, he slammed the top of his head into the door frame and immediately fell to the floor. From my vantage point under the bed, I heard the thud and saw the fall!! The giant was out cold!!
My first instinct was to panic; however, I knew that I was the only one that could save the day! With my previous training from watching Animal Planet, I rushed to his side. A thousand thoughts ran through my mind as I opted to try CPR. (technique is demonstrated in the picture below) I leapt to his chest and began to use my trained paws to bring him back to consciousness. Sweat was pouring down my brow as I frantically kneaded his chest, listening for a faint sound of a heartbeat!!
Finally my labors were rewarded as he bagan to come to. As he looked up and realized that I, just a simple feline, had saved his life, I saw a glimmer of respect in his eyes. I was rewarded with a can of tuna from his private fishing stock. In the end, my deeds have mostly been forgotten; however, I know that one fateful day I saved a life!!
'Til next time!
